Registration for field trips must go via Conference Manager
|
|
|
|
|
|
All students participating in field trips must register through the system Conference Manager.
Registration pages are created by the secretariat, and links sent to the teachers. The teachers share the links with their students.
All field trips are announced with prices in newsletters to the students. On all registration pages, the deadline for registration is clearly marked.
Students cannot participate in field trips without being registered.
It is not possible to register once the trip has taken place.

New room calendars in Outlook
|
|
|
|
|
|
After the rebuilding in 1671, we have new teaching and meeting rooms.
Thus, some calendars have been deleted and new ones created in Outlook.
The following calendars must be used for booking of rooms:
Teaching rooms:
1653-014 Mikroskopial Undervisning (30)
1653-018 Undervisning (20)
1671-137 Aud-1671 Undervisning (98)
1672-141 Undervisning (26)
1673-118 Computerrum undervisning (20)
Meeting rooms:
1671-241 Mødelokale (16)
1672-114 Mødelokale (8)
1672-238 Mødelokale (10)
Other calendars that you may have saved in the Outlook overview must be removed.
The old calendar for 1673-118 must be removed and the new one retrieved. This is important because an error occurred when changing the name, which is why the old calendar for the room shows incorrect bookings.

Info about purchase of PC from AU procurement

The delivery situation in the market
Rising global demands for IT hardware products is pushing the capacity of the component supply. Component suppliers are trying to increase production, but a shortage of raw materials for components such as plastics, molds, printed circuit boards and generic ICs presents continuing production challenges. It is this challenge that causes delays in PC deliveries to AU.
Emergency PCs
We follow the situation closely and do everything we can to deliver PCs to everyone again. We have regular follow-up meetings with HP and Comm2ig. In this connection, it has also been possible to requisition "emergency PCs" for AU. It is not enough to cover all our needs, but it is possible to prioritize PCs for the most urgent orders.
Be sure to place your orders for 2021 now
We need to prioritize our orders with the manufacturers. Therefore, it is important that you place your orders via the webshop as soon as possible. That way, we have a better opportunity to ensure that our delivery needs are met in the fall. When you place the order, please note how urgent your needs are.
The faster you place your order, the more likely it is that the PC will be in stock when you need to use it.
Buy through the IT webshop
It is important that we continue to buy our equipment via the IT webshop. This is to ensure that IT support can provide the best service now and in the future. AU has for many years had its own range of PCs, and this has resulted in high-performance PCs that also meet the requirements for a modern workplace in the coming years. AU buys quality PCs and therefore has extra requirements for service and a longer service period than for a normal PC. In addition, AU's PCs are adapted to AU's systems, including setup, theft marking and security policies.

A number of errors are made in the credit card settlements in RejsUd at Geoscience.
Therefore, all users of RejsUd are encouraged to contact the travel group (Rejsegruppen) if they are in doubt about anything when making their settlements.
The following employees can be contacted directly:
Per Mogensen
Pia Jørgensen
Stephanie Rosenbæk Hall
Tina Lykkegård Thomsen
All 4 have access to TeamViewer and Teams and can provide online guidance and help in specific cases.

Adrián López Quirós will start as a postdoc on 1 April and will be working with Marit-Solveig Seidenkrantz. Here is Adrián's presentation of himself:
Originally from Spain, Adrián López Quirós holds a BSc in Geology, MSc in Geology Applied to Mineral and Energy Resources, and PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Granada.
Dr. López-Quirós’ recent research at the Spanish National Research Council is geared towards the reconstructing of regional Antarctic paleoenvironments as far back as 40 Ma. He is focusing on the Drake Passage-Scotia Sea region (West Antarctica) to provide a better understanding of the effects of tectonics on the evolution of gateways, marine circulation, sedimentation patterns and ice-sheet evolution. He is investigating sedimentation patterns in two periods of time and locations. First, in the late Quaternary (Pleistocene; ~0.7 Ma) sediments of Ona Basin (Scotia Sea), he is decoding the presence of different water masses and the spatial variability of bottom current pathways by means of morphological and sedimentary processes analyses using high-resolution geophysical, bathymetric and oceanographic data. Second, in the late Eocene-middle Miocene (~37-15 Ma) sediments of the South
Orkney Microcontinent (Weddell Sea), he conducts detailed sedimentary facies analyses to delineate the opening and deepening of the Drake-Scotia gateway and their influence on Southern Ocean and ice sheet configurations. This study is based on sediment cores from ODP Site 696 and includes sedimentary, mineralogical and organic matter investigation. The mineralogical investigation includes clay formation and past environments as recorded by clays.
Recently, he obtained a Postdoctoral Position in shallow seismic investigations at the Department of Geoscience, Aarhus University. The postdoctoral project will focus on investigating the Late Quaternary geological, paleoclimate and paleoceanographic development of the NE Greenland shelf. The project will make it possible for him to learn how to make a detailed linkage between seismic studies and marine sediment cores, not the least how different proxies may be used for this purpose. He will also gain experience in Arctic sediments and glacier-ocean interaction. The possibility for him to expand his research from a focus on Antarctic to also encompass the Arctic will also provide him with a much broader understanding of sediment deposition and ice-ocean interaction in polar regions thus significantly widening his research area. He will bring detailed knowledge on polar sedimentary
basins and Antarctic conditions to Aarhus University, making future studies Arctic-Antarctic linkages possible. Moreover, he will bring experience in combining oceanographic and seismic information and his expertise in using advanced mineralogy of sediment core material to identify changes in ocean circulation and link these to seismic units changes will be valuable for the Department of Geoscience.
