Ready Set Go!
Now the semester has started, and the new students have attended their first lessons. We hope they will settle in nicely and that in a few years we can send them all out into the world as highly capable geologists and geophysicists.
August offered a pleasant evening for the DHL relay, where Geoscience had two running teams and a walking team. It was both fun and cozy, and we hope to see even more colleagues next year.
Ahead of us is the new semester and a lot of fun with colleagues.
But first, here comes a newsletter.

Marit-Solveig Seidenkrantz has received the Order of Dannebrog on the basis of her exceptional research and teaching.
Marit-Solveig's ground-breaking research has been of great importance for the understanding of global climate changes over time as well as for the investigation of the processes that control the climate. Therefore, her research is of fundamental importance for predicting the future climate.
In addition to research, she also receives the Order of Dannebrog because she is a top-quality teacher. Her teaching is progressive and receives great student evaluations.
Marit-Solveig takes on many administrative tasks for the department and the faculty, as well as for society in general, both nationally and internationally. Her personal integrity, communication skills, openness and willingness to always help when needed mean that she enjoys the highest respect and appreciation everywhere.
A big congratulations is in order. It is well deserved.

Dear All
I am your new permanent PhD partner. I have been at Aarhus University since 2001 in various departments, the most recent approx. 10 years at the PhD school, GSNS.
In addition to being PhD partner for Physics, Chemistry and Geoscience I am also part of the GSNS admissions team.
I will be sitting at Geoscience on the 1st Thursday of the month, please stop by.
I look forward to the collaboration, and do ask if I can help.

My name is Mads Ramsgaard Stoltenberg, and I am about to begin my PhD study in paleoceanography at the Department of Geoscience where I am supervised by Marit-Solveig Seidenkrantz and co-supervised by Christof Pearce.
I am originally from Thisted, Denmark but have spent the last 5 years in Aarhus where I have studied geology at this department. So, I know some of the staff and students around here already. I graduated this summer and am officially set to start the PhD on September 1st this year.
The focus of my study will primarily regard past changes in climate and ocean circulation off Greenland.
I am looking forward to getting started and meeting all of my new colleagues! 😊

My name is Sita and I will be a maternity substitute for Krishna for the next year at the Department of Geoscience.
I am a happy, smiling and curious film nerd with a background as a historian, graduating from AU in 2009.
I have worked as AC and secretary in several places at AU, among others in the Administration at AU HR and at the IKS department for Theology + 3 years at VIA University College.
I live in Randers, but I grew up near Skjern - all the way out in wild West Jutland. I live almost with my boyfriend NO, who is a teacher at Elsted School, and every other weekend his teenage girls Vigga and Asta come and stay with us.
In my spare time I geek out with movies and always take part in a quiz game. NO and I also often put on headlamps and go bunker hunting. I run too, so if you see me limping every now and then, that's why - half marathon on September 30th (hopefully.)
