Hør programmerne her:

Mandag d. 23. oktober - Giftigt vand & jord i hovedet

I am from a small town in Greece, called Kalabaka or Meteora. Following my high school graduation, I moved to Thessaloniki to pursue my undergraduate studies in Geology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where I successfully earned my degree in 2016. Subsequently, in 2018, I furthered my studies in the same department, where I obtained a Master's degree in Applied and Environmental Geology receiving qualifications in the subject of Applied Geophysics.
I remained actively involved in the field of geoscience as a Research Assistant at the Exploration Geophysics Laboratory within the Geophysics department at the School of Geology, Aristotle University Thessaloniki, from 2016 to 2019. During that time, I had the opportunity to participate in a range of geophysical projects related to groundwater exploration, saltwater intrusion, soil stability, contaminant remediation, and environmental site characterization. This hands-on experience greatly enriched my understanding of geophysics and its practical applications.
In 2019, I relocated to London, Canada to pursue a Ph.D. within the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Western University working on the geoelectrical characterization and monitoring of subsurface changes associated with remediation processes. I am pleased to share that I recently presented and successfully defended my doctoral research, marking a significant milestone in my academic and professional journey.
My decision to apply for a postdoctoral position within the HGG group in this department was, without a doubt, an easy one. I have long held an admiration for HGG's innovative approach to tackling diverse challenges, and I am genuinely thrilled at the prospect of collaborating with professionals in the field of geophysics.
I look forward to contributing my expertise and enthusiasm to the Department of Geoscience at Aarhus University and to HGG and am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead. It's a pleasure to be part of this vibrant academic community.

My name is Ivan Vela, and I am from Spain. However, I have been living in Denmark since 2012.
I came here as an exchange student during my final year of environmental engineering. After that, I pursued a now-discontinued M.Sc.Eng. in Technical Geology at this very same institute.
Upon receiving my degree, I began working at Ejlskov, a small soil remediation company, where I established and subsequently led the R&D department for six years.
During my tenure, I gained extensive knowledge in electronics and mechanics and even patented a couple of inventions.
Despite these achievements, my desire to learn more persists. I believe the best way to do so is by surrounding myself with people who are more knowledgeable than I am. This is precisely what I aim to achieve in my new role as a development geophysicist here at Geoscience, HGG.
