The holidays go to...

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has an overview of which countries inhabitants of Denmark can travel to without having to self-isolate after returning home.

Please note that AU follows the travel instructions and requires employees to go for 14 days self-isolation after returning from trips to countries to which it is not recommended to travel.

Self-isolation is without salary unless the employee can work from home during the period after agreement with the immediate manager.

Face masks for travelling abroad

Due to COVID-19, a face mask must be worn when flying.

If you are going to travel in connection with your work at AU, you can pick up face masks in the Secretariat.

Closed for the summer

Administration center NAT

The Departments in Administration Centre Nat will be closed for summer or have limited staffing for most of July month.

The Geoscience secretariat will be manned throughout the summer.

Esben Auken new Vice-Director of GEUS

As of September 1 this year Esben Auken will be leaving the Department and the Aarhus University for the position of Vice-Director of GEUS.

For decades, Esben has been associated with the Department contributing to cutting-edge developments in hydrogeophysical research, applications and instrumentation. His work, in recent times as Professor in Hydrogeophysics and Head of the HydroGeophysics Group has made a major impact on geophysical applications in groundwater and geotechnical research across the world with obvious benefits to the societies in both developed and developing countries.

We congratulate Esben on his new, challenging position and wish him all the best in further promoting geoscience research in Denmark and abroad. We are sorry to see Esben leave but look forward to collaborating with him at GEUS and strengthening the scientific and educational ties between our institutions.

NEW STANDARD AGREEMENT FOR SMALL PROJECTS

A new standard collaborative agreement has been developed for smaller collaborations with eternal partners.

The agreement and instructions on how to use it will be posted on this page.

Remember the travel insurance card

Now that the borders are opening up again, we would like to remind you that everyone who makes work-related trips must remember to have a travel insurance card on the trip.

To obtain a travel insurance card, you must fill in this form (in Danish) and submit it to the Secretariat.

Drives and shared folders changes names

The University board of directors has decided that all shared drives and shared folders on the O-drive need to be renamed so they reflect our current new faculties.

Your shared folders with the indication ST will hereby automatically be renamed on August 25th 2020 in the period 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. where after the new folders will be available. During the renaming period, there will be no file access.

All affected shared folder owners will receive a personal e-mail from the IT-support regarding how they should act in relation to their specific shared folders.

Emergency plan for AU internal mail

AU internal Mail runs until 31. July on the emergency plan.

The following applies:

  • Delivery/collection from Monday to Thursday, between approx. 8.00-14.00
  • We visit all units/departments twice a week
  • We are present on Fridays and can be contacted by email
  • In Weeks 28, 29, 30, internal mail is completely closed on Fridays

Access card

ST Byg has cleaned up the system, which keeps track of access to the buildings.

In this connection, errors may have been made. If you find that your access to a building has disappeared from your access card, please contact the Secretariat.

GSNS will be represented at geoscience

From August 6 our partner at the Graduate School of Natural Sciences, Rikke J. Ljungmann, will be in our partner office, 1671-134, every Thursday from 12.30 to 14.30.

No laundry on the invoice

Please note that the department does NOT pay for washing and cleaning of clothes when guests are staying at a hotel at the department's expense.

Air pump for the bicycle

In the Workshop hangs an air pump that can be used for the department's bicycle.

Help using the pump is available from Per Trinhammer.

Day of Conferences

Get new knowledge about the conference market's changes post corona and physical versus digital meetings.

The Day of Conferences will be divided into two days this year:

  • September 23, 10:00 - 17:00
    Trip to venues and hotels in the Skejby area, Montra Hotel Sabro Inn and Kaløvig Center.
  • October 7, 10:00 - 20:00
    Focus on professional presentations, good networking opportunities with Key to the City, site visits to new places in Aarhus and subsequent dinner at ARoS.

The library has cleaned up the archives and has returned a lot of old photos to Geoscience.
